The Deerhound originates from Scotland and is like the Greyhound but with a harsh and shaggy coat. They are friendly and faithful and devoted to their owners but reserved in front of strangers. Quite a large breed they stand at 76 cm (30 inches). They are relatively easy to groom and need open spaces for exercise. An instinctive hunter, although they train well.
