Alan Birkbeck Wildfowl - Warwickshire
Wildfowl at Home is
based at Applegarth and is run by Alan & Ethel Birkbeck.Alan is a country chap having been born
(1929) and bred on a Westmorland farm. As a boy, Alan had his own Rhode Island Red
and White Wyandotte poultry. He studied agriculture and graduated with a B.Sc. in
1953. Alan commenced breeding waterfowl in 1966 and joined the British Waterfowl
Association. Elected President of BWA from 1982-85, Alan is also a member of IWWA,
WWT, Aviornis and RBST. |

a 100 species of birds. In total our small holding is 37 acres and dedicated to the
rearing of birds . We are just over two miles from Exeter and provide a nation wide
