Regional Show
London & Southern Counties B.S.
Specialist & Rare Variety Open Show
Sunday
10th October
The event was staged at
the Open Show venue of the Centenary Hall, Wheelers Lane, Smallfield, Surrey. Judges for the day were Geoff Capes (Whitewings) and
Andy Thorpe (Yellow-wings) who replaced Trevor Clarkson due to illness. Generally speaking
the show was a great success with a total of 249 entries for the eleven
Challenge Certificates up for competition, an increase on last years figures. This Regional Show unfortunately did not prove as
popular as those staged in past years, with only four C.B.B.A. exhibitors benching a total
of fifteen Clearwings. Best of Colour
Yellow-wing, Best Yellow-wing Any Age and Best Champion Yellow-wing Any Age went to a
substantial Yellow-wing Light Green hen staged by Ghalib & Janice Al-Nasser. The
Best Yellow-wing Young Bird and Best Champion Yellow-wing Young Bird was a young cock
belonging to Malcolm & Pam Freemantle. The C.C. for the Whitewings was awarded to a
Whitewing Violet cock which was also Best Whitewing Any Age and Best Champion Whitewing
Any Age went to the same partnership who completed the Whitewing clean sweep, by gaining
the award for Best Whitewing Young Bird and Best Champion Whitewing Young Bird. Vincent Salter from the Isle
of Wight took all four awards in the Beginner section.
C.B.B.A. President Bill
Gibson who had travelled down to the Show with Chairman Lyn Bancroft, presented C.B.B.A.
Regional Show Medallions to the winning exhibitors.
