As always the spangle variety always feature high among the major specials at the B.S. Club Show and this year’s show was no exception when a Spangle Grey Green hen bred by the Welsh partnership of Alan Thomas & Dai Wall captured the Best Young Bird Opposite Sex in Show.
The total spangle entry was 169 (168 last year) made up of 84 (85) Spangle Greens and 85 (83) Spangle Blues but on this occasion the variety did not head up any of the sections apart from the major award mentioned above. The Association extends its congratulations to all winners and our thanks to Bob McCabe who judged the Spangle Greens and Dave Game who judged the Spangle Blues. Winning members in the Spangle sections were treated, once again, to some wonderfully designed certificates and the best spangle in show and four major winners also received special certificates enclosed in glass frames which added a further special touch to the awards. Our sincere thanks are extended to John Cosby for producing those wonderful certificates. Only one out of the four spangle challenge certificates was won by an SBBA member. Once again we extend our thanks to John Cosby for manning our stand throughout the weekend assisted by other officers of the Association; to Rod and Sue Clarke for dealing with our patronage and trophies, assisted by Cy Thorne; to our President Bob Allen for presenting the certificates to the four winners and to all other committee members for their assistance. Our thanks and congratulations are extended to all our members who entered their spangles at the show and did well.

Dave & Pat Herring occupied second place with a Grey Green hen while Arnold Stevens was third with an Opaline Grey Green hen.

Bill & Malcolm Hough benched a DF Yellow cock in second place while Steve & Bill Squires benched a Cinnamon Green hen (5th Best Novice Young Bird) in third place. Place Any Age C.C. Jim & Carol Huxley benched a Grey cock (6th Novice Any Age) in second place while a Skyblue hen of Tom & Andrew Luke was in third place.
Paul & Nicki Stannard won the young bird award with a DF White hen while their Grey cock was in second place. Steve & Bill Squires were third with a Goldenface Grey cock.
