SBBA  -   BS  CLUB SHOW  2010
reported by Ghalib Al-Nasser, SBBA Chairman

The spangle entry for our club show suffered a slight drop in entry from last year’s entry with 208 (235 last year) entered made up of 87 Spangle Greens and 121 Spangle Blues. The spangles as always did well throughout the sections but not as well as in past years winning only one section for Jim & Carol Huxley as Best Beginner Young Bird. The Association extends congratulations to all winners including those who also did well in their prospective sections with their spangles. Geoff Moore judged the Spangle Greens and our President Jerry Donovan judged the Spangle Blues.

The Freakley & Ainley partnership did well again with their Spangle Cinnamon Grey cock winning the Best Spangle in Show award for the second consecutive year but as they are not SBBA members the honour for staging the Best Spangle in Show by a member went to John Grubb with his Spangle Opaline Grey Green cock.

Winning members in the Spangle sections were treated, once again, to some wonderful designed certificates and the best spangle in show and four major winners also received special certificates enclosed in glass frames which added a further special touch to the awards. Our special thanks are extended to John Cosby for producing those wonderful certificates. It was also pleasing to see that three out of the four spangle challenge certificates were won by SBBA members.

Once again we extend our thanks to John Cosby for manning our stand throughout the weekend; to Rod and Sue Clarke for dealing with our patronage and trophies, assisted by Cy Thorne; and to all other committee members for their assistance.

Our thanks and congratulations are extended to all our members who entered their spangles at the show and did well.

A good solid bird that went on to win 4th Best Champion Any Age. Another super spangle, Light Green cock, with wonderful width of head and shoulder quality but with flights missing occupied second place for the Bowker family of Richard, John & Wayne which occupied 5th Intermediate Any Age award. A quality Double Factor Yellow cock benched by James Thompson was third in the line up possessing good head and shoulder qualities. The opposite sex in this CC was an Opaline Cinnamon Grey Green hen placed 4th in the CC line up for Richard Hooper.
