SPANGLED BUDGERIGAR BREEDERS' ASSOCIATION NEWS
October 2004

Reported by Janice Al-Nasser, Publicity Officer

By the time you read this the show season will be virtually over and all efforts are geared towards our own club show to be staged in conjunction with the B.S. Club Show. Many exhibitors have done well with their spangles on the show bench and we all wonder how their spangles will fare at the club show. There will be an array of trophies and rosettes for competition among paid up members.

Spangles have performed well at championship shows all over the country. The season commenced with the Specialist & Rare Variety Show in June with Bill & Malcolm Hough repeating their success from last year’s National (winning best budgerigar in show with a double factor spangle). They won best spangle and I hear that they also won a best in show with the same double factor bird. Another spangle winner was Bernard Kellett’s grey green cock which has won four Best in Show awards. Cliff & Darren Jones and Sheila Burne & John Crooks partnership have also done well with their spangles. I am sure that there are other spangle winners that have not come to my attention.

During the trophy presentation ceremony at the New Zealand National in August, Ghalib Al-Nasser presented Warren Wilson of Australia with a newly designed Life Membership certificate. This was very much appreciated by Warren, who does much for the specialist varieties worldwide.

The breeding season may already be underway, or will shortly be starting, for members who I  hope will have an abundance of fertility with plenty of spangles in the nests.
