Rare Variety & Colour BS - 2009 Club Show
Compiled by Gh
alib Al-Nasser

There was a slight drop in entry from 2008 (figures in brackets) for the Rare Variety 57 (58) but an increase in entry for the Any Other Colour 59 (47). The Best of Colour Line Up for each of the 4 CC’s is shown below.

Rare Variety

Bob Allen judged this section and awarded the adult CC to Roger Day’s Texas Clearbody Grey cock of good colour. French & Ratcliffe were second with another Texas Clearbody Violet hen. The partnership also occupied third place with another Texas Clearbody Grey cock.

The young CC went to the Norwood Stud with a Texas Clearbody Skyblue hen. Another Texas Clearbody Skyblue hen was placed second for the junior T Salem. A Slate hen from Ghalib & Janice Al-Nasser was third best.

Any Other Colour

Ray Brown judged this section and only the Greywing and Lacewing come under our umbrella in this section. Of course the Anthracite has been exhibited at a number of championship shows this year but it was the first time that they were benched at the Club Show thanks to Rod & Sue who benched an adult cock and Ghalib & Janice who benched an adult hen and a young cock and hen. We hope that more will be benched next year. The Any Age Best of Colour winner was last year’s young bird winner; a Goldenface Greywing Grey cock benched by Alan & Gina Adams. Chris & Mary Snell were second with a White Cobalt cock followed by Brian Sweeting’s Grey Yellow hen in third place.

Bob Quigley & Bob Watson with the society’s President Gren Norris

Bob Quigley & Bob Watson won the young bird certificate with a lovely Greywing Skyblue cock (Best Rare in Show by a member) benched in good condition. This was followed by two cocks benched in the Any Other Colour class for Carson & Walker and C & L Newson.
