Crested BC-2008 Club Show ~ Compiled by Janice Al-Nasser ~ Publicity Officer
It was pleasing to see that our crested entry increased to 72 from the previous year's entry of 47 for our past President Grant Findlay to judge.
As last year, it was the day of the Skyblues in the any age section, and previous challenge certificate winners at this show occupied the first three places. Grant awarded the any age certificate and Best Crest in Show to Paul Cheatley & Terry Alcorn's circular Skyblue cock, making it a double for them with the same bird (Best Crest & Best Crest Young Bird last year). This bird was staged in immaculate condition sporting a strong crest on a large body; a worthy winner indeed. The runner up was a quality tufted Skyblue cock from Ghalib & Janice Al-Nasser; winner of the best crest young bird in 2005. In third place was Sue & Rod Clarke's circular Skyblue cock, which was best crest any age last year. The best opposite sex went to Alan & Gina Adams' circular Cinnamon Grey Green hen.
Dave Moss has done well with his circular Albino hen throughout the show season and he was pleased to add his name among the winners at the Club Show when Grant placed this super hen as the top of the young birds. A solid large bird with neat crest staged in good condition. Sue & Rod Clarke were second with a lovely circular crest Opaline Cinnamon Dark Green cock. A bird of good balance and a good crest. A lovely strong tufted Spangle Cinnamon Grey Green cock occupied third place for Alan & Gina Adams; a good bird but lacked condition on the day.
